It’s a frustrating cycle. Your preforms aren’t hitting the right temperature consistently, so you’re forced to slow everything down. If you don’t, you end up with uneven walls or that annoying pearlescence. The fastest way to get that capacity back? Swap out those worn-out infrared lamps for some precision-spec’d ones. The deal with heat density For the Blomax 6, it’s all about short-wave infrared radiation. You want to drive heat into the PET fast, but you have to do it without cooking the neck. When you use a lamp with a higher wattage-to-length ratio, you’re basically packing more heat into every millimeter. This gets the preform to its glass transition temperature way quicker. But here’s the catch:**you have to match the voltage exactly.**If you drop in a lamp with a lower voltage rating than what your power rail provides, you’ll burn through the filament in a matter of hours. Not a great way to spend a Tuesday. Quartz and the “invisible” stuff We use high-purity quartz glass because it actually lets the IR energy through. Standard glass blocks too much of it. Plus, we use halogen-filled tubes. This keeps the filament temperature steady, which means the lamps last longer and your heat profile doesn’t drift halfway through a long shift. The best part?
