
Stop Fighting Your SIG Blomax Lamps
If you’re running SIG Blomax lines, you know the headache of tubes failing way too often. Usually, it comes down to two things: mechanical stress or thermal shock. We’ve spent a lot of time looking at Nissei ASB systems to figure out why this happens, and we built our replacement lamps to actually handle the abuse. Why they usually break Standard quartz lamps have a weak spot at the pinch seal. When you’ve got a high-speed blowing line shaking everything, those seals just can’t take it. They snap, and your line goes down. We fixed this by toughening up the envelope and the seal. We didn’t just make them “bulkier”—that doesn’t help. Instead, we tweaked the quartz wall thickness and the filament tension. Now, the lamps can breathe through those rapid heating and cooling cycles without cracking under the pressure. Fitting into your setup These are drop-in replacements. Plain and simple. We stuck to the original Nissei ASB wattage and voltage specs. Why? Because the last thing you need is to swap a lamp and suddenly blow a fuse or fry your wiring because the transformer couldn’t handle a “high-output” version. You just pop them in, wire them up to your existing holders, and get back to work. One thing to keep in mind Here’s the catch: a tougher lamp changes how the heat moves. Since the structural build is different, it might take a few seconds longer (or shorter) to hit that steady-state temperature. You’ll probably want to tweak your timing controllers. You just need to make sure the preform is perfectly soft right before the blow cycle kicks in. It’s a small adjustment, but the payoff is huge. You stop replacing tubes every couple of weeks and actually start planning your maintenance around when the parts actually wear out. It’s a lot less stressful.
