If the heat isn’t steady across the whole tube, your bottles just won’t come out right. You need a lamp that keeps a tight, consistent watt-density from end to end. The nitty-gritty of the heat We use shortwave infrared here. The trick is getting that heat to soak into the PET quickly without scorching the surface. If your lamp has “cold spots” or the filament isn’t wound just right, the preform won’t stretch evenly. That’s why we obsess over where the tungsten filament sits. We use high-purity quartz glass because these things take a beating with the rapid heating and cooling cycles. One thing to watch: check your power rail. These lamps are built for specific voltages and wattages to match your OEM power supply. If you grab the wrong one, you’ll either end up with cold preforms or a fried transformer.
