But usually, the oven is fine. The real culprit?Power mismatch. It happens when you mix lamps with different wattages or toss in a few aging filaments. You end up with these annoying “hot spots” and “cold spots” that mess up your heat distribution. It’s frustrating, and it costs you money.
Why “Close Enough” Isn’t Good Enough
Here’s the thing about infrared lamps: they need to be exact. We build ours to hit the OEM specs of your SIPA setup right on the money. If your machine expects a specific wattage and you pop in a generic lamp that’s off by even 5% or 10%, your controller starts panicking. It tries to overcompensate, which creates a weird oscillation in your heating. We make sure the power is consistent across the whole bank. That way, every single preform gets the same amount of energy, no matter where it sits in the carousel.It just works.
The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
We use high-grade quartz glass and halogen gas fills. Why? Because it lets us push the heat density without burning the filament out in a heartbeat. We stick to R7s or SK15 connectors so they fit snugly. A loose connection is a nightmare—it creates electrical resistance, which leads to those nasty overheated sockets. We keep the tolerances tight so you can just drop them in. No messing around with your wiring.
Making it Work on the Floor
When your power output matches, your PID controllers stop “hunting” for the right temperature. You finally get a stable thermal window. One quick tip: if you decide to push higher wattage to speed up your cycle times, keep an eye on your cooling fans. More heat means your fans have to work harder. If they can’t pull the ambient heat away from the lamp ends, your seals will give out way too soon. Stick with direct replacements. Your preforms stay uniform, your scrap rate drops, and you can actually stop worrying about the oven for a change.
