Stop Overpaying for Your Krones Contiform Lamps
Let’s be honest: keeping a Krones Contiform line running is expensive. One of the biggest headaches is the constant cycle of replacing infrared heating bulbs. It feels like as soon as you get the line dialed in, another bulb pops, and the OEM bill arrives. We decided to fix that. We make drop-in replacement lamps that do the exact same job—same heat, same electrical specs—just without the “brand name” markup.
The Guts of the Lamp
These things run on high voltage because PET preforms don’t heat themselves. We use a tungsten filament inside a halogen-filled quartz envelope. Why? Because it gets to the target temperature almost instantly. We’ve tuned the wattage and voltage specifically for the Contiform power grid. By packing more wattage into every millimeter, we can keep the footprint small while still getting enough heat into the PET walls. You get the soften you need without scorching the base of the bottle. One quick tip:**keep an eye on your power supplies.**If your voltage is jumping around, those filaments will burn out way faster than they should.
Built to Take the Heat
Rapid heating and cooling is brutal on glass. That’s why we use high-purity quartz. It handles the thermal shock without cracking. We also obsess over the connectors (R7s or Sk15). They’re precision-machined for a snug fit. You don’t want a loose connection here. A loose fit creates an arc, and once that happens, you’re looking at a melted socket and a dead lamp. Plus, we use a focused shortwave infrared spectrum. This means the heat actually sinks into the plastic instead of just warming up the air in the oven. It’s just more efficient.
Getting Them Running
The best part? There’s no complicated installation. You pull the old bulb, slide ours in, and wire it up. Done. But here is the reality check: if you’re pushing your oven to the absolute limit to squeeze out a few more cycles per hour, you’re putting a lot of stress on the quartz. You’ll see a shorter lifespan if you run them “red hot” all the time. My advice? Balance your heating zones. Spread the load across the bulbs so a couple of them aren’t doing all the heavy lifting while the others just sit there. Your wallet will thank you.
