
Why we build our outdoor heaters with a modular design
Outdoor heaters have a rough life. They deal with rain, dust, and crazy temperature swings every single day. Eventually, that takes a toll. It doesn’t matter how high-end the parts are—in a few years, a heating tube is going to burn out or just stop hitting the temperatures it used to. That’s why we don’t build our IP65 heaters as one big, sealed block. We went with a modular setup instead.
The headache of the “sealed unit”
Here is the problem with most heaters on the market: they’re sealed tight. When one tube goes, you’re usually stuck ripping out the entire chassis or fighting with a mess of wires inside a waterproof box. It’s a pain. We decided to do things differently. We separated the heating module from the main weather-proof shell. Now, if something breaks, you don’t have to tear the whole thing apart. You just slide out the old module and drop in a new one. The waterproof seal stays exactly where it is. You go from hours of frustration to a few minutes of work.
The struggle with IP65 seals
Getting that IP65 rating—meaning the unit is dust-tight and can handle a spray of water—takes a lot of gaskets and very tight tolerances. But there’s a catch. Those same seals that keep the rain out make getting inside the unit a total nightmare. By using a “plug-and-play” system, we get the best of both worlds. You keep the protection, but you don’t have to break the weather seal every time you need to swap a part.
Let’s be real about maintenance
Whether you’re using quartz or halogen tubes, they’re going to wear out. It’s just physics. If you’re running a high-traffic patio or a public outdoor space, you have to plan for that five-year mark. With a modular setup, you just keep a few spare tubes in the warehouse. Your tech swaps the module, clicks it into the quick-connect terminals, and you’re back in business. No soldering. No rebuilding the weather shield. Just a simple, mechanical swap and you’re warm again.
